Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons) is pleased to welcome Judge Michelle R. Mallard as one of its newest attorneys. Prior to joining Parsons, Mallard served as Magistrate Judge, Bonneville County from 2012 to 2023, before which, she served as Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Idaho for eight years. Mallard says the wisdom and skills she gained as a trial court judge will now be applied to her private practice, which focuses on business and commercial litigation: government enforcement, securities and white-collar defense; and divorce and family law. Mallard is also a practiced mediator.

“I’m so excited to join Parsons! Of course, Parsons’ excellent work product and professionalism is noticed and frequently remarked upon by the legal community here in Idaho Falls. But the real draw for me is the progressive, inclusive and dynamic work culture. Such an environment is energizing to work in, and I look forward to being able to contribute,” Mallard says.

Mallard is a seasoned litigator, having tried many cases successfully before federal and state courts during her time as an assistant United States attorney for the District of Idaho and as a county prosecutor. Her cases included both complex and simple matters such as tax code violations, healthcare fraud, bank fraud and environmental crimes.

A sixth-generation Idahoan, Mallard is deeply involved in her community. She is a Paul Harris fellow in the Idaho Falls Rotary Club; an active member of her Eagle Rock Inns of Court; and has recently been given awards of appreciation for her service to the Department of Health and Welfare Region Seven Behavioral Health Board and to the Idaho Judiciary by the Idaho State Bar as well as her most treasured token of appreciation – a handmade token from the participants of the Domestic Violence Drug Court over which she presided. Mallard is a member of ElevateHer with the Idaho Falls Symphony, which seeks to promote opportunities for women in the musical arts.

Idaho Falls Office Managing Shareholder Challis A. McNalley says, “We are extremely fortunate to count Judge Mallard as a member of our Idaho Falls attorney bench. Her experience and accomplishments in the Idaho legal community are outstanding and we know she will bring the same level of excellence to Parsons’ clients as she did to judgeship. We could not be more pleased that she has chosen to join us here at Parsons Behle & Latimer.”
